Every year Royce does Fall soccer and a spring instructional soccer program. The spring program is only 6 weeks long (they meet twice a week) and they work on drills and then have a 30 minute scrimmage against another team in the program. Lenox told me he wanted to try soccer again this year. Let me back up and mention that he tried it in the fall of 2020 (when he had just turned 4) and he hated it! So I let him quit because dragging him there every Saturday morning at the crack of dawn (plus I was pregnant with Tru) just for him to cry and not participate was beyond frustrating!
So I was pleasantly surprised when he asked to try again this year and guess what…he absolutely loves it!! I think the combination of him being a little older and now in kindergarten with friends in school and on his team helped a lot. Plus our old neighbor is on his team as well so it set him up for a great season!
I’ve never done teammate gifts before but thought it would be so fun for him to give his soccer buddies something to end the season with. When I found these soccer ball acrylic balls on Amazon I knew I needed them exactly for this purpose! (They’re now sold out 😔 but I will link these round ones and star ones that would also be super cute to do something similar.
My original plan was to fill them with black and white M&M’s but the white ones were sold out and so for the sake of time I got Sixlets instead. Same idea so they work.
Of course I needed a tag and embellishments! The velvet frayed ribbon is my favorite from Hobby Lobby and the stars you can find here . The tags and cute heart shaped soccer balls are from Michael’s. I think they came out so cute and he can’t wait to give them to his friends!
I‘m sure his soccer days are just beginning and I’m excited to see how he does in the years to come! What do you think? Would you give teammate gifts? Let me know below!
